Yesterday was Chloe’s last day of third grade. She hopped off the bus with a book bag full of the last remaining things from her third grade desk; markers, pencils, a magazine and…a sheet of paper with a fake mustache attached to it for “Safe Keeping.”
I love this kid.

Chloe and her Gatorade mustache discover that her chicken finger looks a little too much like a seahorse and asks me to take a picture of it.

On Saturday morning I had the house to myself. I sat reading the news at my desk. To my left came the sound of a thud; the only sound in the house. I turned to see a stunned little bird on it’s back on the living room floor. It’s eyes were open and it was not moving after flying into the window.
I walked into the kitchen to get some paper towels to pick up the bird with. I felt a pang of sadness thinking that the bird had met it’s untimely end. As I approached it and bent down to pick it up it flew away, landing on the high window ledge. Whew! It was alive!

Then I was faced with trying to get the bird out of the house without it pooping on everything in sight. In it’s panic, it flew into a mirror and fell down again. That time I was able to scoop it up and set it outside the window. He calmly hung around on the deck for about 5 minutes and flew away.

I don’t know what type of bird it was but it was pretty cute.

Sometimes you find really beautiful and meaningful messages in the places you least expect. Spotted in an alleyway in Birmingham, Alabama – May 2010.

“Love your Neighbor”
“Hope”
My parents have always marched to their own drummer. It’s probably one of my favorite aspects of who they are as people. They aren’t afraid to just do their own thing.
While other families were having brunch and giving bouquets of flowers, my family again blazed their own trail. For Mother’s Day this year, my dad gave me a 7lb can of chocolate pudding.

7lbs… of pudding.
He said he tried to get me a can of vanilla too but they were all out. I love my family.

Isn’t it what we all want?

Chloe went in to the mall with 8 silly bandz on her arm. The next thing I know, she’s got over 50! These shaped rubber bands have taken over her school. They are the latest fad.
She’s on the lookout to find a slug shaped band.

Another one of Chloe’s finds. She spotted this happy coffee cup lid in Port Jeff. He could either be happy or surprised depending on whether you’re a glass is half empty or half full type. She said he was happy, so I’m going with that. He seems unperturbed by his less than ideal surroundings. We should all be so evolved.

When you go to the pound and select yourself a fur ball to bring home, you can never know just how much they will become a part of your family. I love this mutt.
