Yesterday was Chloe’s last day of third grade. She hopped off the bus with a book bag full of the last remaining things from her third grade desk; markers, pencils, a magazine and…a sheet of paper with a fake mustache attached to it for “Safe Keeping.”
I love this kid.

Chloe and her Gatorade mustache discover that her chicken finger looks a little too much like a seahorse and asks me to take a picture of it.

Chloe went in to the mall with 8 silly bandz on her arm. The next thing I know, she’s got over 50! These shaped rubber bands have taken over her school. They are the latest fad.
She’s on the lookout to find a slug shaped band.

Another one of Chloe’s finds. She spotted this happy coffee cup lid in Port Jeff. He could either be happy or surprised depending on whether you’re a glass is half empty or half full type. She said he was happy, so I’m going with that. He seems unperturbed by his less than ideal surroundings. We should all be so evolved.

While walking across a parking lot Chloe shouted, “Mom! There is an octopus in the road!” We walked back to the car, I gave her my camera and she took a photo of it. I love that she sees things beyond what they appear to be on the surface.

After dinner on Wednesday evening we put Luna in the car and headed over to Stonybrook Harbor. It was such a beautiful evening, spending it outside seemed like the perfect thing to do. We skipped rocks, Luna barked at scary sticks, we poked old lobsters. The simple things are often best.

Over the last day and a half we’ve accumulated about 18 inches of snow. Our little world is again covered in a fluffy layer of powdered sugar. Chloe, Luna and I trudged out into the backyard to have a look around. Everything looked beautiful.

Chloe has has a growing collection of vinyl character figurines. Every time that we go into New York City, we have to stop in to Kid Robot to see what’s new. Most of the figures that she likes are sold in blind boxes. That means you have no idea exactly which character is inside the box until you open it. It keeps things exciting, wondering what is inside the box.

Santa brought Chloe an ‘I Dig Dinosaurs T-Rex Skeleton’ excavation kit for Christmas this year. Armed with her little silver hammer, chisel and a brush Chloe donned her safety glasses and began digging through the sandy block to uncover the dinosaur bones.
I got an old box top out to try to keep the sand from flying everywhere. But, in the course of her digging the little stones did manage to fly about. This is definitely not an activity to be done in a carpeted area
Chloe carefully chiseled and brushed and the bones began to show themselves. She could hardly wait to get them out and assemble her T-Rex.
