While our good friend Ed was here visiting us, we got a chance to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons being blown up. The staging area circled the Museum of Natural History on Central Park West.

On Saturday evening, Chloe and I left home for a girls night out. With our sleeping bags and camp pillows in tow we headed west into New York City to The American Museum of Natural History, where we would be participating in The Night at the Museum Sleepover.

The Sleepover allows children ages 8-12 to come to the museum after closing time and explore some very entertaining programs such as Frog Quest and a Flashlight Fossil excursion, while still feeding their minds.

The Fossil Flashlight excursion was Chloe’s favorite part. (Mine too, actually!) The children were given a question booklet and had to roam through the darkened dinosaur halls, reading the plaques with their flashlights looking for clues and answers. It was such a unique amd wonderful experience.

We slept in the Millstein Hall of Ocean Life underneath the world famous, big blue whale. Though the actual sleep wasn’t the best, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. What a great experience for a child!

Chloe and her favorite dinosaur, the Stegosaurus.

Almost time for lights out! 11:30pm and Chloe is still awake.
